Greg Kopcyzk - Interim Pastor

I was born and raised in Poland and lived kind of oblivious to all-things-God until He found me and saved in my last year in high school. It was unexpected but simple – He hooked me up with a friend who was not afraid to tell me about Jesus and why He matters.

In fact, all of my growing up in Christ since then has this reoccurring theme: God kept on sending people, both young and old, who would (at times in super awkward ways!) speak the truth into my life, and lead me toward knowing and loving God more.

Somewhere along the line, well into my university years, a desire to get fully involved in ministry was born. That led to leaving Poland for a couple of theological schools in the US, meeting CJ at one of them, getting rerouted from the plan of returning to Poland, and coming to serve in Canada. Long story … in almost a bullet point form (and that shortened too! – I’m sure you’ll get to hear more here and there, but if you really want the full scoop then let’s get some Green Tea Latte at Starbucks or London Fog at 2nd Cup and chat ;) ).

And then came the MET … I was actually here back in 2012 for several months as a JH sponsor – which was awesome! And it’s pretty awesome to be back here again, doing what my friend way back when, and countless other people all along my journey with God, did in my life – speak the words of life and point to Christ at METYouth.

Jonathan Chery - Youth Intern

I was born and raised in Orleans. I was never the typical person with sagging baggy pants, earrings, a drug dealer with a bandana, having dreads and a backwards hat. I would consider myself an oreo (black on the outside but white on the inside, to a very small extent) lol. I grew up in a Pentecostal Church in Orleans and was HEAVILY involved in both junior and senior youth.

During my time at Sir Wilfred Laurier High School, I was not attached at all to any party scenes, drinking, or drugs like some of my friends and acquaintances were. From grades nine to 12 (2008-2012), God impressed on my heart to start a Christian club at my high school in the kitchen class and I got really challenged in my faith to try to reach people in my high school.

In grade eleven, God gave me a vision of a huge hand bringing me from Ottawa to British Columbia. I did not know what it meant at the time. I was accepted at Ottawa University, Carleton University, and Algonquin for Public Relations, Sociology, and Social Work – all with scholarships. But God impressed on my heart not to accept them. Leaving these opportunities in Ottawa, I met a graduate (from my Church in Orleans) of a school in British Columbia named Ruben Valeny who introduced me to Summit Pacific College. I applied for and was accepted at Summit and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Biblical Theology in 2016.

In the summer of 2014, I went to The Legacy Conference (in Chicago) where my views of Christ were challenged by the Scriptures and peoples’ experiences with Christ. So much so, that I was convicted of being selfish with my walk with God and “doing the Church routine without a relationship with the Word of God”. So God gave me Galatians 2:20-21 as a verse to remember.

As the Word of God became more real in my life and my graduation brought me back to Ottawa, I wanted to ensure I was connected with a Bible-believing youth/ adults group. In the summer of 2016, I Googled “Bible-believing Churches in Ottawa” and I found The MET. In July 2016, I spoke with a Young Adults Pastor at The MET. We connected through Christian Rap music, which made me come back in September 2016. So I have been attending METYA and enjoyed it ever since!

After applying for internships at different churches in Ontario, God opened a door to serve at The MET. I am THANKFUL and SUPER PUMPED to serve and get to know all of you!!
